Could be wrong but........

Isn't the painting by Gustav Klimt in fact of the girl "Valerie" that dies some years later because of a broken heart. I suppose hearts break for many reasons but mostly due to a lost loved one. I think the ending with such a focus on the painting is insight that yes, one dies young, the obvious being Victor. Still I wonder why the painting was the focus at the end when it tells of a woman dieing of a broken heart. It could have been her, years later after both of them living fullfilling lives, or her after Victor dies. Who knows? Loved the movie and you can talk about alternate endings, but I would need see it to believe it. I do not know of one movie that has followed a book cover to cover.

Just out of curiosity, did you watch 'Dying Young' yesterday at noon in Australia?
I think I'm psychic...(maybe)

No. I live in Mass and the time frame is way off. Why do you mention the psychic presence you felt

I doubt that. I was curious what you thought of the painting in the final scene.

To be honest I didn't think about it :)

The movie ending was at least better than the book ending. The book was not much like the movie.

I never read the book. I try to always do one or the other but never both. It always screws things up. Everytime!!!!
