Who sends the string?

So I have been reading some of the posts here trying to answer some of the questions I had about the film. Some of them have been very interesting but no one seems to explain the string. At first I thought Fabbri sent the string but after watching the movie again I am not so sure. You may notice Weronika snap a string off her music notebook while she is rehearsing for the concert. Is this the same string Veronique is sent in the mail or is it completely unrelated? Thoughts please.

I suppose that Fabbri sends the string. My interpretation of the movie is that he actually has no particular understanding of Veronique at all; he is just trying to maniuplate her with intrigues. However, we moviegoers are free to make connections and interpretations that we do not have to assume the characters in the story see.

I think it's meant to be Fabbri, referencing the children's story referred to by Veronique's friend earlier involving a shoelace, though we as viewers are meant to make a "mirror" connection between the shoelace and the string that was so prominent in Weronika's section.

It's Krzysztof Kieslowski. He's the real puppeteer..
