How the hell did they not have Jason Patric play Jim Morrison ?!? In the Lost Boys they had a scene that showed Patric next to a picture of Morrison....they looked like they would be related!

patric, while i like him, is nowhere near the caliber of actor that kilmer is. i actually think kilmer looks more like morrison, aside from the mole on his cheekbone.

He is a good actor. I believe he would have provided a deeper dimension than Kilmer. Kilmer came off as an impression but then again it could have been the script. Casting was off for Meg Ryan as Pamela. I do believe that Kilmer looked more like Morrison.

shareNo way, I watched this again last night, and I'm more convinced than ever, and this movie is 22 years old, that Kilmer was the only guy at that time of the right age to play Morrison. A lot of it was freaky but if you watch the film of them that exists from their live shows, you can see that Val Kilmer nailed him. Can't see Jason Patric doing that.

Kilmer isn't far away from looking like Morrison, but that was not the important factor. Kilmer was umbelievable in the singing scenes, so good that even the surviving Doors had to admit they couldn't tell whether it was Kilmer or Morrison dubbed.
Kilmer should have won an Oscar for this performance.

When their were only RUMOURS that they were gonna film the movie.
Everybody was debating wheter it would be JAson Patrick or Micheal Parè.
Everybody thought Jason Patric, was gonna win the role..
Then 2 years later the movie came out..
and it was like "Val" who?!
I feel robbed too.
Jason Patric is Jim Morrison.
Val Kilmer did his own singing in the movie and the real members of the Doors said they could not tell the difference from Kilmer's singing from Morrison's singing,it was practically dead-on perfect.That may be why.I think Kilmer did a great job of portraying Morrison.

This is maybe the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Val Kilmer as Morrison is perhaps the greatest instance of casting in the 20th century. AND HE DID ALL HIS OWN SINGING!!!!!
