I don't get..... (typical teenagers..........?)

LOL.

Why.... Kenny and Sue Ellen had that argument near the end, like a married couple.... where she talks about the rat race and how it sucks..... how her vacation (and his) were ruined.........

wasn't that the whole point of NOT calling their mother?? So they didn't have to have any rules and could go to the beach and stay out as late as they want....... ???? But then they were complaining about it like they were forced into the situation.

I thought the stuff Kenny was saying was kinda filmed as a gag. As in he's acting like a bored "housewife", fed up of her "husband" working all day and not appreciating "her".

I think the point was that they glamorized how great being on your own is, and while it has some good parts to it, it really does suck sometimes. That summer, they both got a true taste of what it means to be an adult with a family and responsibilities. And like a lot of adults, they thought someone else who had a different kind of lifestyle had it better or easier, or had more fun. Sue Ellen thought Kenny sat at home all day watching tv, eating, and just relaxing, while Kenny thought Sue Ellen was doing something fulfilling, was surrounded by people who admired her and thought the world of her, and had money of her own. Those are both very distorted views of either being a stay at home parent and a working stiff.
