The clothes at the end

Are these school uniforms? If not, what are they? I was in the 10th grade when this movie came out, and I can't even fathom WHERE you would even wear these clothes. Parties, maybe?

LOL- the clothes were hideous! Sue Ellen did have a great sense of style- I was surprised how awful the clothes were at the fashion show. Oh, well it was the early 90's. Even then- nobody would wear those clothes/uniforms.

I have always loved the clothes, but I am also confused by who was supposed to wear them. They were designed for teenage girls. What nurse, chef, bell-boy, girl-scout leader would wear those?

Yeah, Sue Ellen really didn’t know her audience. Those outfits screamed more “theme party” than “business appropriate.”

The point of the fashion show isn;t to duplicate the fashions but to feed ideas from them. No, stewardesses are not going to wear those uniforms, but perhaps the airline likes the idea of satin stripes or the cut of those hats. Maybe an airline-themed restaurant and dance club might want their waitresses to wear them.
There's no way in hell the Sacred Mary Virgin Hospital of Skin Diseases would accept that stripper-style nurse's uniform. But they might like the cap or recommend the cut of the spandex dress to the erectile dysfunction division...

Or again, the waitresses at The Coronary Burger Barn where they simmer their burgers in bacon fat.
