why did Christina appelgate have to gain 10 pounds for the movie ?

in the trivia section it says

"Christina Applegate gained nearly 10 pounds in order to play a 17-year-old teenager. She lost all of that weight soon after filming ended to continue her role on the TV series "Married... with Children" for it's fifth season."

I always thought she looked fat in this movie but great in married with children why on earth wouuld they want to chub her up for the movie !?!? she looked just fine as kelly bundy

10 pounds doesn't seem very much to me - would it have even been noticeable?

That depends.

To a tall person or even someone of average height, 10 pounds wouldn't be that much and probably wouldn't be that noticeable. On a short person it definitely would be. I'm 5'1 and 10 pounds on me is definitely noticeable.

Kelly Bundy was supposed to be white trash--whose family does not earn enough to eat well. The kids in this film, were slobs but the mom had money otherwise she would not have gone overseas.

I don't know why she didn't look great, but she was no where near as hot as Kelly Bundy in this disappointing film.
