Chris Pettiet (Zach)

I don't see anything on his IMDB or Wiki page about him getting help for his drug problem. At 14/15, if he had a problem, there should have been an intervention, right? Not "Shoot! Now we're going to have to shut down this movie because this kid is an addict".
Where was the help? He was a child.

I don't think he would be using f-ing heroin at that young an age. Don't believe everything you read on IMDB.

What about first hand accounts from his peers?
I don't believe everything, but some things add up.

What peers?

People he worked with, the other actors, directors, etc.

I'm just saying that if his heroin addiction was such a problem that they were going to cancel the movie, then maybe he should have gotten help.

You first comment made it seem like it was *impossible* for a 14-year old movie star to get his hands on whatever kind of drug he wanted. I don't believe that.

I looked on the trivia page. No one is on record clarifying that this incident actually happened. It's just something that some user posted on there, and like I said, IMDB is not a very reliable source.

I don't think any kid that young would be using heroin (and I don't think you could call him a movie star. Pettiet wasn't that popular. Macaulay Culkin was a movie star, Pettiet was just another child actor). Pot, maybe, but not anything hard like that. I'm sure Chris Pettiet didn't develop his smack habit until probably in his late teens.

There are a lot of young teens that can, (and will) get hard drugs. I was personally knew young teens doing LSD, ecstasy, cocain, meth, pain killers, and whatever else they can get their hands on. Never underestimate a teen no matter how young. Never be naive.

In Hollywood, drugs, in pretty much every form, are very accessible; some kids are in fact, given drugs (as has been exposed in the documentary "An Open Secret") in order to make them more submissive to predators. Christopher Pettiet's manager was Bob Villard, who is now a registered sex offender. Too much of a coincidence if you ask me, especially with everything that is coming to light about child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.

reply

Wow. You must be incredibly naive and sheltered to think young teens won't or don't do hard drugs. The sad fact is they do. And they're not just doing hard drugs, they're having sex with multiple partners, etc. Very sad.

Child actors in Hollywood tend to come from dysfunctional homes. I'm not surprised that he was "thrown away" for not making it big like Culkin.

They Tried: A couple of decades ago, a few producers tried to blackball two actors they thought should never work in Hollywood again. For the most part, their efforts as far as television goes, worked. The producers created a middling network show that probably should have kept running for a few more seasons. Instead, the show was abruptly halted and everyone sent on their way. The reason was the network was told by the producers that two of the actors, including the lead were raping a teen boy almost every day of the filming. The producers found out about it ten days before the show was shut down. One of the actors involved had a pretty decent career going and to the outside world, it was a shock that he basically never worked again until the raped actor couldn't speak up about what happened. I always found that interesting. No work and then the raped teen couldn't speak any longer and it was almost as if the blackball lifted. Because of his connections, the other blackball worked for television for the most part, but he just moved over to movies to continue his career which was based almost primarily upon others in his family putting forth good words and just constantly mentioning him to try and get work. All of you know him, and it probably isn't for his acting resume.
Show: "Young Riders"
Lead actor: Ty Miller
Actor with family connections: Stephen Baldwin
Rape victim: Christopher Pettiet

Taken too young.

First off, where’s your proof? That’s a REALLY loaded accusation to make. Okay, I don’t agree with Stephen Baldwin’s politics, but please. And Ty Miller was in a few movies and Melrose Place after TYR ended. He’s only worked sporadically because he’s a web developer. Double oh please to your accusations. Poor Chris is not here to back that up. Really shameful, I have to say.
