one thing I never got (2 parts)

Sue Ellen was passing herself off as an adult at the office, and pretty much everyone was believing it, Rose estimated she was 26-27. Yet, when they hear she has a son, everyone is in disbelief. Why would that be? she was in her mid to late 20's (well, that's what they thought anyways), so why would it not be conceivable that she could have a son?

also, it's presumably Kenny who called the office. Why does he say that it's her son that got injured? Why not just say it's her little brother, which is the truth? Mom was in Australia, so big sister Sue Ellen has to tend to him, that probably wouldn't have aroused anyone suspicions.

I thought that whole scene was weird.

that may be true, but she had only been working there a few weeks, so it's not like she had a chance to tell her life story by then.

also, at the party, Melissa refers to her as Mommy. Sue Ellen is 17 in the storyline, and Melissa I'm guessing was 12, or around that area. Would people have believed Sue Ellen was Melissa's mother? there was like a 5 year age difference there.

Well, by the time the party scene happened nobody rally cared about SueEllen's age they all knew she had a kid, and figured maybe she got marreid young. So, maybe she could have had Melissa or Zak about sixteen or less. It happens.

Sue Ellen clearly explains that they are her "step-kids" when her little brother is at the hospital.

reply

She said that Kenny was her stepson and that Walter was her son.

I think it was surprising to the office because she never mentioned any kids. Usually, people bring up kids pretty early. I think the whole "son" thing just makes it funnier, more dramatic. Teenagers lie when in doubt, so it also makes sense.

They were shocked because:

She does look young. Not rekt from childbirth. She never mentioned a child. Career chasers such as them rarely have families too, and even rarer so young.
