If you enjoyed this film, I would recommend viewing 'Wit.'

For those that enjoyed this film, I would highly recommend watching a film titled "Wit" with Emma Thompson. They are similar in some ways, but offer a different perspective--from the doctor to the patient. Also, "Wit" asks you to consider some things about they way you lived your life, whereas "The Doctor" asks you to consider the way you treat people. Ive always thought that both films should be viewed by people entering the medical profession, mandatory for Doctors especially. They should even be required viewing for a recertification every 5-10 years, for those in the profession so long that they forget how they should be treating their patients. What do you guys think?

"Are you righteous? Kind? Does your confidence lie in this? Are you loved by all? Know that I was, too. Do you imagine your suffering will be any less because you loved goodness and truth?" - Corporal Fife, in Malicks' philosophical masterpiece 'The Thin Red Line' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120863/)

Oh my goodness, yes! Thompson is fantastic. But then again I can't think of anything I've seen where she wasn't.

How do the angels get to sleep when the Devil leaves his porchlight on?

Amen to both posters. (And if Thompson is brilliant in everything she does --to which I whole-heartedly agree--, I must give kudos to Hurt as well for his exceptional performance here.)

This film resembled "Regarding Henry" with Harrison Ford or vice versa. Different circumstances, but same trip in finding the empathy and redemption path. They come out the other side more human and happy.

To quote Ferris Bueller: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around for a while, you could miss it."

“Wit” was brilliant but so heartwrenching. The scene where her former colleague visits and reads The Runaway Bunny. 😥
