The cab driver was the 'Pakistani man?'

Another exchange on this board suggested that and in 20-plus years and numerous viewings, I never made the connection.

According to the poster, the driver is crying not just because of the song he's playing in the cab, but because he lost his sweetie in Grady. Was this the case?

I really can't subscribe to that big of a coincidence. But I can certainly see his crying serving as a reminder to Doc that there's more to the Pakistani story and yet another reason to return to Grady.

Of course he's the same guy. In the real world it would be just a coincidence, but in the context of the film and the script it is clearly deliberate.
