Why didn't chuck do this one?

To me, what made delta force 1 & 2 good was chuck norris' ability to play out action sequences without flaw. When I heard he wasn't going to be a part of DF3 I got kind of upset. He is not a replaceable character, and his acting career should not be tampered with. Does anybody know why Chuck decided to stay away from DF3? I am dumbfounded.

I read somewhere about a helicopter accident on set of DELTA FORCE 2, and Chuck I guess wasn't really in the mood for a part 3 after that.

According to the trivia section:

"Chuck Norris was to appear in this film, but he withdrew following the helicopter crash during the making of Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection (1990)."

On May 6th 1989 during filming of DF2 a helicopter crashed on the set and killed 4 crew members aswell as the pilot.

For easycomeeasygoes333 - There was also fatal accident during the filming of MIA 3 about 18 months earlier when a helicopter crashed on the set killing 4 Philippine Air Force MPs.

I read it in either an interview OR in Chuck's book that he did not agree with Cannon's actions regarding the crash incident. They showed no remorse and giddily talked about part 3 filming right away. Chuck had had enough but owed Cannon one more film and that was The Hitman which was filmed in the US under strict safety laws.
