Why only a 5.3 rating?

Granted it's been several years since I've seen it but 5.3? It's atleast worth a 6.0!

Agreed. I am shocked as well. I would think a 7.0 at least. This was a great movie and one of Candy's funniest

i gave it a 10. Period :)

Well, I'm watching it now again after several years. I still like it, but some of the humor is a little telegraphed. Still a great funny film though

Yah I'm shocked at the low rating. C'mon guys, give this at least an 8! It's a classic =)

I saw this for the first time last night and while I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was up in cleverness/awesome as Uncle Buck or Planes, Trains, and Automobiles or even his role in Splash. I wouldn't count it as a stinker because I still chuckled but if someone asked me for John Candy's best work, this wouldn't be at the top of that list. But this role is slightly different than the ones above so that could explain why I'm not partial to it.

I think this movie is very underrated. It's not perfect but it's pretty funny if you have ever watched real soaps. I watched Days Of Our Lives for a number of years. It's like watching a very bad car accident, you just can't look away. I just kept watching it because I was amazed at how far in the bizarre the storylines would go. Delirious takes a piss at that and especially David Rasche acts like the perfect soap actor. It's a decent movie and I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

I just responded to another post where someone thought this was JC's worst movie. Then the poster proceeded to describe the movie in a way that made it clear they either hadn't watched it or didn't pay attention when they did. I'm not sure how folks vote, but sometimes movie ratings surprise me, and I agree with the OP, I would've thought this was a better movie than ~5.

I just watched the movie after having not seen it in maybe a couple of decades, and I think a 5.3 is about right. It's just too damn awkward and corny.

Smallville is their idea of relevance and relatability.
