I have to get home for the cable....I've got black bars on 2...and 7.

Have you tried switching between aerial and cable to see if the bars are there too?

That made me laugh. Not exactly the first or last movie joking about the cable guy, but somehow it's a timeless joke.

Yeah. Raymond Burr's delivery of the scene makes it hilarious because it's so over the top. You can't help but laugh at it.

I got stood up with no call from the Comcast people on Thursday (which prompted me to watch delirious). My girlfriend called and I said I could not leave because I had black bars on two and seven. She called back a few hours later and I said... "the cable man's not coming, is he?" I bet he was at the zoo.

During the opening scene the cable guy has a postcard of Lady Liberty and then 2 mail people cross in front of him. Was the joke that he could have just handed it off to one of them and he chose to go in the building and waste more time? I'm not sure I got that bit.
