cinematic style

does anyone else think that jpj's cinematic style in this is a lot darker than amelie? do you still think it has the same sort of techniques that define him as an auteur though?
this will help me a lot with my a level reserach project if anyone has any ideas or responses!

I don't know if you still need this but I think Delicatessen cinematography is very similiar to Amelie. Maybe a little more so than his other films, City of Lost Children for example. He is definitely one of those directors that has such a distinct visual style that you know you're watching a Jeunet film from the first scene(and not just because his name is in the credits). As for as being darker, in what sense of the word? As far as mood or actual lighting?

Definitely darker than Amelie in many ways. It's post-apocalyptic, it's always at night, the humor is darker. The City of Lost Children is very similar to Delicatessen in these aspects, and possibly even better.
