Gene Siskel = insightful, thoughtful, artistic
Roger Ebert = grumpy sourpuss

I love the way Siskel slam dunks Ebert repeatedly in this clip. Maximus ownage at the end :D

It's interesting that for virtually every clip of their reviews that I've posted, people always slam the critic who disagrees with them as being "uncultured" or whatnot. I think this is just a rare example of where Ebert totally missed the boat and probably wasn't paying attention very closesly - he didn't understand it at all. But if you dig through their review archive, Siskel was actually the grumpier one who downdangled his appendage way more often and was frequently tongue-tied on-air when trying to support his opinion against Roger's eloquent verbal onslaught. He is sorely missed though.

Maybe so. I admit I've based my entire Siskel/Ebert opinion on 2 reviews. This one (Delicatessen) and Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, a film which Ebert seemed intent on slamming simply because it dared to portray the Japanese soldiers on equal footing with the British.

His bizarre rant about Pearl Harbor @ 4:00 has absolutely nothing to do with the film. lol
