Never totally understood

Where they go if they get to "move on"

Are they going to some type of heaven? Parallel universe where everyone is more intelligent? Different life? They wanted to move on together, so obviously they would still be *them* just somewhere different, correct?

It's supposed to be vague and incomprehensible. You're not supposed to understand it. Like most religions interpretation of the afterlife.

It's not directly stated but given the plot synopsis mentioning heaven and the implications of the film:

Judgment city = purgatory.
Moving on = heaven.
Sent back = reincarnation.
Angels = the 'employees' of purgatory.
There is no hell, so tossed away = no longer exist in any form.

I saw it as being reborn in a different part of the universe or maybe at a different time on earth. Either way they would face different challenges and have to conquer a new test (aside from fear) before moving on further.
