Favorite movie ever. Someone should do a sequel!!!!!

or a remake at least.

Whatever for? A sequel is not necessary, and a remake would simply be subpar (what actor could possibly follow in the footsteps of Meryl???)! Let's don't mess with perfection; it doesn't need to be redone.

Let's leave the 1991 version alone and just enjoy it on DVD from time to time....

"Irgendwo da draußen wartet die Liebe"

I agree. If you want to enjoy this kind of movie - see A. Brooks other movies. Some don't hold a candle to this, but his pathos is there and poignant comments in his observations are peppered throughout. Great lines in "Mother" as well. He is my favorite "guest" voice on the Simpsons.

NO SEQUEL AND NO REMAKE!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS PERFECT THE WAY IT IS..*ROLLS EYES*

You must not have liked it that much if you think it should be remade.

The best reason for a sequel is to see where they went to afterwards.

We'd never be able to understand where they went afterwards.

Well, clearly they went back to Earth. That's where those trams were going, no?

Or is it that she was going somewhere better, forward, and since he was brave, now he got to go with her.

Okay, then, it's a great start for a sequel. But just remember, our expectations of "heaven" must be inverted, diverted, and perverted. It's a brilliant jumping off point.

I know from Judd Apatow's interview with him, though, that Brooks doesn't seem interested in working hard on all this stuff anymore. He's had enough success and he got t he hell out of Dodge - ie LA, which is one of the many hells-on-earth.
