Not Quite "All Quiet On The Western Front"

This film has so many parallels to AQOTWF ... but there is one great exception ... Kipp.

Kipp has read Johnny Get your Gun ... the great anti-war response to WW1 ... and Kipp is considering the position of a Contentious Objector ... while in AQOTWF all the students were all in.

More so Johnny Get your Gun is a banned book so Kipp is going subversive on us and is going to fight the banning of books ... which was a common practice in both Japan and Germany in December of 1941.

This would have been a rather pedestrian film without this contrast. I'm glad they put it in.

7 of 10 ... would love to see it redone with a higher level of intellect.
