Did he love her??

I've seen this movie a couple of times. I was wondering if Jack ever loved Adrianne and Mary at all and how far back did his deceiving go? Did he start deceiving her back when they first met and he "just happened" to be at the same restuarant she was when she had her blind date with Adam Lucas? And why did he kill his own mother? Do you suppose he killed the real Jack Sanders back in 1975?? If anyone can answer these questions, thanks.

I'm pretty sure that he didn't kill Jack Sanders, and pretty sure that he loved Adrianne and Mary, I thought that he happend to be in the restuarant by chance but was already married to the other woman, but now I'm starting to wonder if he met the other woman after. And he killed his mother probably because he didn't want Adrianne finding too many things about him, she already knew enough, he didn't like his life before and he was a sick man. I know these don't help that much, but hopefully it did a little, it's a VERY confusing movie! But good too!

I think what made him sick too was the fact that he grew up the way he did, with his mother the way she was. I'm surprised he married the other woman if he loved Adrian. Maybe he didn't feel loved enough. While Adrian thought he was dead, he kept watching her, following her around.

I think he did love her, but not as much as he loved himself. But he was sick, so he was able to do the things he did. I believe he married the other woman after- since he used the name Sherman already. Remember that he wanted to be Jack Saunders when his friend Jack died. So that means, Adrian was the first woman he fooled. I think he wanted to be Jack with a nice family and career. I don't think he really planned to leave her when he married her. But I think he got greedy, and when he wanted to steal the necklace, he started planning how he can get away with it. That's why he wasn't too careful ( in leaving clues behind) since he was not used to these kind of things. I think the reason he was following her after his supposedly death is because he wanted to find the necklace which Adrian dropped in their walk-in closet when she was searching his briefcase. All in all, the film was not that great, but it's entertaining. It's interesting to watch Goldie in a serious film. Although I like her better in her comedies.

I think he made the blind date with "Adam Lucas" just so he could meet her...etc, he knew she was in the art business...

You guys..he was totally crazy!! Whether he loved her or not, he was using her, there are no two ways about it. Then he stalked her, with that landsend jacket. I am not sure I fully understand how he was able to start two families without anyone knowing! They lived in close vicinities of each other & dont you think he would run into people who called him by the wrong name And his litte freak out at the end leads me to believe he not only killed Jack, but also Daniel. I mean his mother doesnt like him, and we all know if your own mother doesnt like you...well you are EVIL!!

My favorite part of the movie has to be when Hawn throws a snap at that crazy little girls family! If it were my parents they would have apologized and given back the necklace. It reminded me of Hawn's character in "Overboard"

doesn't compute. Don't you remember, that he HAD ALREADY MET job-related her 1 year prior? Plus he doesn't even use the situation, e.g. talk to her in the restaurant. Instead he talks to her in her office (where he had alread been 1 year prior and where he could have gone any time again).
