Incorrect title/year

I distinctly remember picking this film up at the video store during the late 1980s (not 1991). I was a little kid at the time so I can't remember the exact year, but I'm almost positive it was released under the title "The House on Tombstone Hill." The title "Dead Dudes in the House" is the Troma re-release title from many years later and is misleading; hinting at a goofy/bad horror-comedy when in reality this is a pretty serious film from what I remember. In any case, IMDb is supposed to list films under the original release title and that sure as hell wasn't DDITH. I also think the release year might be off. I think this was filmed around 1986-ish and was first out on VHS in 1988 or 1989. Not sure if it was ever shown in theaters or not.

It's at this point that I wonder when Troma even used to release VHS. Because they released a copy of this film on VHS in the late 1990's. On my copy, there's a trailer for Terror Firmer at the beginning. They released it more than once? This is what makes me think the 1991 release was The House on Tombstone Hill. Although, that horrible fake-cover for the movie looks real 1991. The fashions of teen culture from '89 (see: Uncle Buck) to about '93 (see: any New Line Cinema film) look exactly like those on that awful "hipsters" cover. The '98 VHS release cover looks much better.

As for the title of the movie, Troma has a thing they do in the opening of several of the movies they release. They make a (usually quite ugly-looking) graphic for a title with a black background and then insert it into the film. Sometimes, they even change the entire opening credits sequence (as they did for the film Chillers). And at the end of Dead Dudes / Tombstone Hill, it reads: 1988 - The Dead Come Home. Maybe that was the original title in the opening of the film before Dead Dudes or Tombstone Hill was used.

Yeah! The cover art is lame!
None of these slobs were in the actual film, were they? It looks like a white "House Party" type movie.
Anyway, I thought it was alright... I'm not as big a fan of it as others here, but there are loads worse.

Trust me,

Yes I remember wondering who the guys on the cover were since they were most certainly not in the movie. The movie itself is so bad, it makes Plan 9 From Outer Space seem like Shakespeare.
