Lets read this tag-line again
"When a girl has a heart of stone, there's only one way to melt it. Just add Ice."
Listen, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there.
I don't think anyone was confused about what the writers were intending to say with the tag-line, we all get that. The problem is that the tag-line's other meaning is completely backwards. If there was, for example, a person named 'Flame' there could be a catch phrase like this:
"The only man that could warm up this woman's cold-heart is flame"
Now, see this tag-line is equally cheesy and lame, but it does make some sense. A cold heart implies that she is lacking affection, a flame warms cold things, so add a flame to a cold heart and you no longer have a cold heart, you just have a heart, or a warm heart or whatever.
The whole idea with tag-lines like these are to use Colloquiums and make a pun with them. The problem with this one is the pun doesn't make any sense. We understand the Colloquium 'heart of stone', but stones don't melt to anything except extreme heat and ICE is not going to melt a stone. If anything the ice would melt and the stone would remain solid. I know it sounds like we're over-thinking this a bit, but there's something very unsettling with this tag-line. The writers were trying to be clever and make a cheesy little play on words, but they blew it. I think they could have pulled it off if instead of ICE they said LAVA, then the tag-line would read like this:
"When a girl has a heart of stone, there's only one way to melt it. Just add LAVA."
See, now the tag-line makes sense, but it's still a little strange because people don't generally think of stones melting, but it's still better than the former.
Also, we understand that they were referring to ICE, as in Vanilla Ice, but they were playing with the word ice; that’s the whole concept behind the tag-line. If his name wasn't Ice then they wouldn't have used a tag-line like this, I mean seriously, imagine his name is Mathew:
When a girl has a heart of stone, there's only one way to melt it. Just add Mathew.
What the hell is that? It only works with names that have multiple meanings, that’s the idea with puns. I assure you Jason nobody read the tag-line and was confused about the message the writers were trying to get across. We know what each of the phrases mean, but we think they failed miserably with their play on words.
Also, if you know of a worse tagline than this I would like to read it because this one is really bad.

Exactly and there's so many ways they coulda ran with this, may not have made much sense but would have made more sense than what they came up with:
"When a girl's temper is running hot, there's only one way to cool her down. Just add Ice."
"When a girl's heart is on fire, there's only one way to cool it down. Just add Ice."
"When a girl's love is melting, there's only one way to keep her cool. Just add Ice."
Granted none of these are great but I'd dare say they at least make more sense than the tagline that was used. I mean seriously it's like they weren't even trying, you have to wonder how much time & effort was spent on this project. I'm guessing about 5 minutes for the promo materials and one week tops for the film.
