It's a smarter buddy combo than I've seen in other films, especially up against the likes of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker....or Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson for that matter.

This is a vastly more intelligent movie than 99% of all buddy films. Funny that you mention Deniro and Grodin, this movie does seem to parallel Midnight Run in a lot of ways.

God,I absolutely LOVE Midnight Run... Part of it is playing "let's spot the Arizona landmark.", but the storyline and jokes are the main part.
For some reason, I grew up not really liking Charles Grodin, although I liked the movies he was in. I've had time to rectify that now... The guy is one of those actors where it just sneaks up on you one day, and you realize how cool he really is.
