Alan Rickman is a super actor and I have seen all his films- well bar this one! I have not seen this film and no where has it to rent or buy! They do have it on ebay but it is usually the us vhs version and it ALWAYS goes for £20+! :( Is there a place I can email to enquire if it will ever be released on DVD?
I found a vhs copy for 5 bucks at a rental store called "Movie Gallery". Not a big movie collector but I try to do a quick scan thru the discount bin. Specially in small to medium size towns where nobody rents these kinds of movies...
Kia67, I've been looking for a copy of Closet Land for years. If the offer is open to make a copy, I'll be more than happy to pay you for your time and efforts. Please reply,,,,,,,,,,
OMG! I LOVE Alan Rickman, the problem with living in Australia is that many of his films are not released here, eg. Dark Harbour, Something the Lord Made, Close my Eyes, Mesmer, and there are plenty more. It is so hard to come across some of the ones which were released here, such as Rasputin and Closet Land. I have been looking for that movie for ages and have had no luck finding it. So dont feel too bad, at least you've seen all but that one. I havent seen at least 6! (Hangs head in shame)
(If anyone knows where to find Alan's films in Australia, any help will be very much appreciated!)... (But help 'Insert_clever_name_here' as they asked first!)
The only video stores near me are Blockbusters- and I doubt they would have it! ;) England is a great place to live but I swear you could find ANYTHING in the USA! I suppose I could probably find it in a car boot sale but I don't really frequent those places.
But I shall keep looking...
aspr_4_eva: Have you tried any online retailers for AR DVD's? I suppose you probably won't be able to find "Closet Land" as you may have the same video problem as me. But for the "popular" Alan Rickman films you could try places like Play.com - (I *think* they deliver to Australia)- I'm sure Rasputin is out on DVD somewhere.(Great Film by the way!)
I have a copy of Closet Land on DVD for sale on E-bay (it is Region 2). The starting bid is $15 (about 8 pounds). You can go to E-bay, type in "Closet Land" and look at the listings. There are other people who are also selling the DVD New (mine has been viewed ONCE and is "new-minus-one-viewing" :-) Anyway, it's good to know blokes in Spain saw fit to preserve this film on DVD (it is the official Spain release)
I know it's been a long time since the last posting, but you can convert your DVD to a Region zero (plays anything) by just entering the proper code which you can get readily online. Go ahead and get a region 2 if you're in Australia, toss it into your region zero and it plays fine. Also 3456 or anything else.
You might try checking the Amnesty International site I'm not sure but I think they have a film festival every year and you may be able to purchase a VHS copy of it from them. At the beginning of the video it says something like a portion of the rental fee goes to Amnesty International. I know it's been out for a few years but if you want it it's worth a shot. No telling how long it will be before it gets released on DVD. I have a VHS copy I got off Ebay.
I know I'm Really Late but incase you haven't found the movie still, I discovered it on YouTube.com under the account: Raremovies or RareMovies. They divided it into 9 parts online. I can't even get the DVD because European DVDs are apparently different than American DVDs. They only way I would be able to see it is if I found a VHS but who really has VHS players nowadays? :D
I know, its a million years ago and you guys have all found your way; but this is not one to miss.
I found mine and it was in French but I was able to non speaking friends figure out the subtitles and get it done in English and I got it online from ebay. I honestly just want everybody to watch, this is some great work.
