Another vote for a DVD release!

I love this movie. It did not change my world because it is representative of my world and that is why I love it.
I show it to everyone that comes to my home and its meaning and significance are discussed during and after the movie. It is well worth preserving in our society and should be transferred to new viewing formats as they become available. Right now that means DVD.
Of course, like Bud Rickets, your concern is with monetary return. I can't imagine that you would lose money for your effort.
I periodically return to amazon looking for this movie on DVD and I am sure I'm not alone. Do it quick before Arthur comes looking for you (he can, you know).

I this movie irritated too many bigshots. I don't mean corporate or government types, but liberals, ecologists & a lot of natives. They didn't just dislike this film, they HATED it, because it suggests that A. liberal "feel-good" politics wont't get you anywhere, because B. Indians hate whites, no matter how well intentioned they are, and C. violence is basic to their culture. Omigod! You can't say that! Result - (I think, anyway) - the movie quietly gets shelved. This is one of my two favourite take-no-prisoners political films (the other is the pitch-black Italian comedy Lulu The Tool). Guess what? Neither one has made it to DVD...

I really hope some day it will be released onto DVD. One can only hope.

Hi everybody,
I am also sharing your interest in Clearcut and I agree it needs more support.
I started a documentary about the making of Clearcut and the issues that the movie brought up, and I am also in contact with the director and a DVD publisher to try to issue a nice DVD/BlueRay release of the film.
In order to prove that there is an audience out there for this movie, which stands as a cult independent and underrated film in lot of film-lovers hearts, I made a Facebook page to gather likes. Each like is a vote for a release!

So don't hesitate:

I fully agree, this needs to be released on DVD. I have a worn out VHS copy I treasure and play often for friends. I disagree with another statement that it angers liberals, I'm a liberal... and Lakota. This movie shows that talk and playing by anothers rules will only go so far, eventually, to make things right, you have to do it yourself. The peaceful way should be tried, but when it fails, one must defend their family (tribe, land, relatives) with whatever force that will get the job done to set things right. This movie challenges anyone to re-think their values. This movie makes you think, and I've seen different reactions by all who've watched it. I am saddened this movie is no longer available, in any form that I am aware of.

Amazon carries a DVD called "AAFES Triple Bill Red Surf." It has three movies on it, the second being "Clearcut". It costs (as of June 2013) about $33.00. I'm watching my copy right now.
