Is there a point?

I just saw this film.

I would say thank goodness people have been making films that aren't trying too hard to be artsy and end up pretentious.
I would say thank goodness people have made films for reasons other than profit.

But... I thought this level of film was reserved only for porn, where the film itself isn't of much concern. This isn't even a vehicle for some raunchy sex!

I fail to see the point to movies like this, perhaps this was not a good introduction to whatever genre this is.

Please feel free to enlighten me as to the appeal of films like this.

PS. Prof. Holt was kind of hot though.

have to agree, cannot see a point to this sort of tripe. watched some of it and it almost depresssed me that people would put so much effort into something that is so incredibly lame and then people bother to watch it, and even more bizzarely, enjoy it. saw a documentary once on the whole troma thing and yer man kaufman is one deluded donkey brain. state of him

The point is that there is no point!!

That's the magic of most Troma films. They are joyfully, blatantly idiotic. If you go in expecting something even remotely intelligent or socially redeeming, you're going to be disappointed.

I, for one, proudly display my Troma DVDs on the same shelf with movies that are considered highbrow intellectual classics. I find that they provide silly, fun, escapist entertainment. I watch them every so often when I need to unwind from a particularly mentally stressful workday and need to see something completely ludicrous, absurd, and carefree. It's all a matter of perspective.

Open your mind, have fun, revel in the ridiculousness! :-D

It's sheer joyous, zany fun, like an adult cartoon.

Perfectly put, fc2collins.
Troma movies aren't meant to be taken seriously. They're low budget gore fests with lots of boobs. The great thing about Troma is that they don't take themselves seriously at all. They know they're low budget gore fests with lots of boobs and they revel in it. Gore and boobs are their bread and butter and if they tried to make a serious movie with good actors and good special effects it would probably fail miserably.

while there is pretty much never a point to a Troma film they are often funny and entertaining for the fact....this wasn't a particularly good Troma film and while had the typical chaos of a Troma film just fell flat
