This movie needs to be remade!

With all the remakes out there, why aren't they remaking movies with real relevance?

People are losing their homes and being pushed out like never before.

Movies like The Front with Woody Allen, Matewan by John Sayles and some of the early David Mamet stuff like Homocide would be brilliantly remade into instant American classics.

We need a new progressive era of cinema to be unleashed like what was unleashed during the early part of the Depression!

Or they could simply release this film on DVD.

Thank you, chronic! I keep hoping to see it on one of the 5 movie channels I "rent" from Time-Warner Cable, but no such luck. From what little I've read this is a film I would love, if for no other reason than that it has both David Strathairn and Chris Cooper.

I'm only in Show Biz by injection

Not sure I'd you're still interested, but it's airing this Sunday around or @6am E.S.T. on Black Starz

It would be better if films like this were theatrically rereleased and given more exposure on network TV. Classics shouldn't be remade but should instead inspire filmmakers to make new films dealing with the problems you outline from a contemporary perspective (which is not to say 'City of Hope' isn't massively relevant today as ever).

They did a theatrical rerelease of a remastered version of The Wild Bunch in the 90s. It would be cool if they did that with this and some other quality indie films - run them in art house movie theaters and then release them on BluRay.

"Boy that was really exciting. I bet you're a big Lee Marvin fan aren't ya."
