The book. Worth reading if your not christian ?

First of l really enjoyed this movie thus why l am considering reading the book. My question is the book appealing to non-christians? (and generally non religious people)

Nothing against christianity but l just am not keen on reading a book thats too preachy/religious.

For example scene in the movie that bugged me was the thunder storm/firing squad scene, its one thing surviving a firing squad, another being partly saved by a thunder storm (atleast thats what the colonel implied literally calling it a freak storm sorry if lm incorrect but anyways...)

Anyway what I found interesting about the movie is what she went through and the conditions upon which some people are forced to live under and raise a family under (the fact that she was forced to do hard labour whilst a couple months pregnant really got to me). Thats not all what kept my interest but you get the point.

So anyone whos read the book (and watched the movie) some advise would be handy.

Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.

I haven't read the book either but I'd really like to because I am a HUGE fan of this wonderful film.

But judging from the film, I'd say Nora Lam's story is one that would interest anyone because it is also a story of a human being battling adversity and triumphing. Her spirituality is a key part of that, but I also think even people who aren't religious can appreciate her struggle and victory.
