Annette Bening

I think Annette Bening was breath taking in this film, the scene where they are in the car after the dinner scene, those eyes, thathair and those looks in a fur coat with the wind blowing. That was when i thought she as never been more breath-taking.

You said it, she was absolutely gorgeous as Virginia Hill.

...It really puts into perspective what she was going through in "Being Julia". Fifteen years makes a world of difference.

I can't stand Annette Benning...everything about her makes my hair stand up. She seems to be the most stuck up, obnoxious woman in Hollywood...I think that's why she doesn't win awards...it is, after all, a popularity contest.

reply

I don't mind Benning, but Virginia Hill would have had her feet in cement if I were Bugsy.

It's so funny that you should mention this, because it reminded me of the Golden Globes last year when Bening won Best Dramatic Actress for BEING JULIA. I don't know if you saw the show or not, but when they announced her name as the winner, she didn't look the least bit surprised and her acceptance speech sounded like she had been rehearsing it for months.

lol! i have no idea if it matters, but i have had the opportunity to meet miss bening not once, but twice. she is the most down to earth person. really. very sweet, and nice, and what actor hasn't rehearsed an awards speech? she's been nominated enough, she probably had something in her head for a long time. i know i have my oscar speech ready, and i'm a currently unemployed actor. lol. my point is, it doesn't make you snobby to be composed and know what you want to say.

She didn't win for Drama Actress, she won for Comedy. Hilary Swank won for Drama Actress in Million Dollar Baby, and then won the Oscar.

She was amazing, and totally stunning. Beautiful.

Remarkably beautiful in "Bugsy", especially in those stunning period clothes. Beatty originally wanted Diane Keaton in the role of Virginia Hill but she turned it down, saying she didn't think she could pull it off.

Yes, she was at her physical best then (and is still a beautiful woman). She gave a terrific performance, too.
