Wants her son to stay out of trouble and not become a criminal...and drops him off in the hood?

My husband lived there years ago - and he's white. He had to go straight 'home' every night. No stopping at a liquor store, etc.

That's where his Dad lives...he made a deal he'd have to go live there if he kept messing up in school. Anyway, as she said, she couldn't teach him to be a man.

Compare the streets in the opening to the neighborhood where Furious lives. The streets in the opening were filled with trash, stray dogs, people fighting. Furious's neighborhood was still violent, but it was cleaner, more organized. It was an improvement from his mother's area.
