How would Ricky and Doughboy's mother (can't remember her name) feel if Doughboy was the one who got killed first? Also how would Ricky feel about Doughboy getting killed? That is one of the things I often wonder

likely she would of said "had it coming". Even though Doughboy stood up for others and even his own brother, despite his mothers hatred of him.
I can picture her not feeling all that sad over Doughboy's death if he had died before Ricky, I hated how she blamed Ricky's death on Doughboy.

That has never occurred to me, I do believe the mother would've felt shocked and surprised about Doughboy getting back at those who killed Ricky.
Probably the same way. It was harder with Ricky because Ricky wasn't someone who was causing trouble and wanted to go to college and have a career.

shareIt's been so long since I've seen this movie, but I've always been under the impression that the Mother treated Darren badly because of his father. She took whatever issues she had with the man on the kid. That may have been one of the reasons why he turned out the way he did.
If Doughboy had been killed first then I think she would have regretted the way that she treated him on some level but she may have never admitted it.

I imagine that the mother would be saddened, not as sad as for Ricky obviously. There might be a little bit of guilt, but then there might also be this "He deserved it." attitude.

I don't think she would've been that sad. She wasn't connected to doughboy like she was to Ricky. Ricky had a future ahead of him whereas we all knew it was just a matter of time before doughboy met his death at the hands of a fellow gangbanger.

As for Ricky, he wouldn't care at all. All he ever worried about was himself.
The mother was a bitch. All she cared about was herself and Ricky taking care of her. If you don't like your children, don't raise them. Her neglect for Doughboy is probably what brought him into the lifestyle he was in.

I personally did not find the mother to be a very likable character and I was so angry that she blamed Ricky's murder on Doughboy when he had nothing to do with it.

Hard to say, I imagine she would outwardly think he had it coming. But in a moment of calm reflection looknig into his casket at her baby boy now lying motionless, I am sure some feelings and thoughts she looked to deny would work its way past the ignorance and anger. She likely wouldnt show it and would try to maintain some level of dignity, but knowing he was gone forever and you never showed your own child the love he neened would affect anyone with a soul.
Ricky meanwhile, I believe would mourn his brother. He knew his brother usually had his back all the way back to fighting a much larger kid for the football. I could see it potentially allowing Ricky to grow more as a man and be more assertive with his mother. A tall order since she babies him and looked after his son; but I think Ricky was on the right track.
