Can't find DVD anywhere

That's all I got to say. It's impossible for me to find it!

reply

buy it off amazon.com or check out Ebay.

Oddly enough the last company to put this out is/was located a few blocks from my house in Long Beach, CA. I wish you well on finding this. For what it is it's a great movie, even just for Phyllis Diller and Norman Fell (as a hippie!)

I got this as part of an auction collection - it's the dvd packaging with the disgustingly naff / ugly poodle on the front, it really put me off watching this film as well as the synopsis / blurb on the reverse - How wrong was I though! Even though this film has a couple of issue with it, it's pretty good.

Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular.

Sadly the scene where the guys head is stood on and crushed is missing from the UK DVD for some reason! Seeing as the BBFC only rated the film '15' it must have been a pre-cut print that was offered to them.

I first saw this in 1991 at a UK all night horror film festival. The head crushing was in that version as far as I remember.

I finally got it! Took long enough. The DVD isn't that great of quality but it'll due.

I just watched it and I'm at a loss as to this "head crush" scene. I cannot remember that. Maybe the DVD with the monster-poodle on the cover is edited a bit...?

hope this gets re-released :)

reply

It just been posted on YouTube.

Huh? I have never, in my entire life seen that scene...
And I have BOTH DVD releases...
Would you care to elaborate on where should it be placed within the film? Any context?

The head crushing?
The old morgue guy (Norman Fell) is on the floor in the fight and the Phyllis Diller monster stands on his head.
There's then a really obvious & sloppy the pre-DVD (pre-Cinema release??) cinema print I saw in 1991 at a film festival you saw the head actually crushed.

YOUTUBE scroll to 1.15.33 to set up fight.
He falls to the floor, her foot stands by him....then there's a bad jump and you never see what happens to him.
In the '91 print I saw she stood on his head.

That reply got messed up.
But you get the drift.

Now her foot is just by his head as he lies there, then there a bad jump cut and you never see what happens to him (seemed he was only uncovious!).

My guess...we saw an unrated pre-release version at the UK festival.
That head crushing must've had to go to get an 'R' & since then only the 'R' print exists/is in use.

I'm hoping you can help me out - I was just about to order the R version off amazon (couldn't find an unrated version), and I'm just wondering how much I'll miss with the rated version. I'll hold off and try to find an uncut DVD if you think I should. Thanks
