this film is great

Really well-made and well-acted with a cool concept.

Just cause of its originality, it should go down on the list of BEST 50 Horror movies of all time.

It it on of the better "reanimation" or "Frankenstien tyoe" movies. It adds so much more to its genre.

I love the style.

It really is a work of art, fully deserving of a spot on the "best of horror" list. I had severely low expectations for it, but the acting and direction were superb. Clearly the cast and crew took this seriously, instead of making the type of ironically funny horror films like the "Reanimator" genre.

Plus, it has two of the best "B-list" actors: Jeff Fahey and Brad Dourif.

Fahey is the man. Very experienced acting for a script that would have been aweful otherwise.

I watched this movie a few times when I was younger, but barely remembered anything about it and decided to watch it this evening. The movie was pretty solid up to a certain point, then it gets kind of meh during the last act and I stopped taking it seriously. There was no real explanation behind the doctor's motives, or how she managed to convince the authorities to let her take the head and torso of a renowned serial killer and bring him back to life without anyone raising an eyebrow. The big reveal at the end really killed what the movie had going for it and the expression on the killers face the entire time was rather comedic, it would have probably worked better if there was more regarding his actual transplant process.

That being said, the car chase scene was easily the best part of the movie and kind of makes up for the faults. It was pretty intense and pulled off pretty well, with the main characters using some common sense for a change and using the gun to break the handcuffs. The movie would have probably fared better if the killer had crashed his car and died right after they were separated, then wrapping it all up with them revealing what exactly the doctor had been up to, but I guess the inevitable re-make could maybe go that route.

Because sponges never have bad days.

This movie was good up until the end then it becomes a very weird Twilight Zone episode
