Siskel + Ebert

I don't understand why Ebert only gave this movie 2 1/2 stars, and neither could Siskel who gave it thumbs up. I watched this movie having no idea what it was about going into it. I found it very well made; the whole scenery was exceptional. It made me appreciate how difficult it was for everyone in these times. The religious points' of views were profound. I was totally captivated by this movie and the acting.
Then Came Bronson

Because they are fools.

I'm glad those names mean nothing here (my country).

I only got to see them in clips in a documentary, and found their POV extremely underwhelming. I'm amazed they have such an influence in America.

Sometimes they miss. In the case of this film, they most certainly did...

I have a great regard for Ebert's (in particular) opinions and like you have always loved this film. If you read his review you'll find that overall it is relatively complimentary about Black Robe. His chief (and virtually only) criticism, is that he thought it was too downbeat in tone and narrative, a point, with which I would disagree. 🐭
