Just Began Watching the 5+ Hour Version :-)

This flick has been my all-time favorite movie since the first time I watched it in the mid 90s. The cinematography, soundtrack and protagonist performances are just in a class by itself. However, up until now, I had only seen the 2 hour version.

Until the End of the World (UEW) appeals to the very few because it is cerebral, visual with music woven into the story. It's not an intense, action movie with a simple plot. It is art.

I started watching the long version this evening. I am watching scenes I've never seen before and it's amazing how the story moves seamlessly from scene to scene. It's by far superior to the 2 hour version that now just seems very choppy and uneven to me.

I don't usually post messages but I'm totally blown away and had to express that to other fans :-)

Where are you watching it? I didn't know there was a 5-hour version. It's one of my favourite films from the '90s and I would love to see it again in an expanded full-length version!

You can get the 3 DVD German set off Amazon. I got it a few years back but haven't watched it all the way through yet because it lacks any subtitles for all the non-english bits. Well, that and I just haven't been in the right mood to watch the whole thing I guess.

I'd love to see a BluRay of this version done with subtitles for everyone that wants/needs them in their native tongue.

Just saw it on TCM in July. It was the full-length version, with subtitles for the non-English parts.
