Not suitable for adult viewing...

This is one of the worst movies I've seen in very long time. I watch 5 movies or more each week and this is truly dreadful. The film quality is very grainy, camera work is lousy, script is bad, acting is over-the-top stupid, story is marginal at best...

It's just plain awful. This movie was so bad that my husband suggested that there was a movement on the part of the director and/or others associated with this movie to get all their friends to give this a high rating (maybe pay them...). I can only guess that this is true with all the 9s and 10s. Either that, or everyone saw this as a kid before they developed good taste.

I feel bad because I asked my local library to purchase a copy based on IMDb's comments. Now I might have to forget to return it so no one else gets tricked into watching it.

Great flick. Haven't seen it in ages but It's stuck with me for nearly 20 years.

You have to give it a breat, 'film quality'? It was a early ninties TV family Christmas film, I loved it.

Even if you hate Uwe Boll, give Postal a try, be offended or entertained.

I am pretty harsh on what I watch and I watch a lot of movies too. Keep in mind that this was a BBC TV movie from 1991. UK technology has always been a decade behind ours (USA.) That being said Yes, the film has a non attractive low color vhs quality film grain to it and the editing was had some goof ups. I guess this is something you either love (which I personally do) or hate. I was surprised at how many people liked Bernard and the Genie here on the IMDB, kind of a cult hit! Lenny Henry and Alan Cumming play great off of each other. Fun characters. Usually movies like this would be totally forgotten by this point. This one stuck with people. It's also a Holiday movie. Granted I haven't put my VHS copy in quite a few years but I thought enough of it to IMDB it now. Great little movie. Again just a "little movie." An Hour and 10 minutes.

Like the others have said its a British tv movie. I had never heard of it until tonight, it just happens to be on PBS tonight.

You have to look at this movie in context.

Its closer to an 80's TV UK flick in style... limited budget, British camp and fun. Check of Murder Most Horrid or Red Dwarf which are funnier and newer. But also check out our own horrible Holidays. Hey, we used to have Bob Hope specials.

Yes the video quality sucks, its 20 years old, limited budget. No re-mastering.

Spoilers (shouldn't be for anyone here)
Silly ideas like a kid wishing his sister to be blown up. A genie who is pals with Jesus. Brings back the Big Mac (Actually, Hamburgers are a few thousand years old from the middle east - they didn't have that name), a cop gets killed and the other cops are not that shocked. Its 75mins of putting your brain on a drain mode.

Want to watch a horrible move... watch Transformers 2. No excuse for such an expensive piece of garbage. Other than some sexy eye-candy which can be hand on the internet, its not worth watching. You can toss in junk like Battlefield Earth, Turbulence, Plan 9 from outer space and half the stuff on TV.

This movie is aimed at 7~12 year olds or drunk adults that can be enjoyed.

If you library was able to get it... you need to return it. Someone else will enjoy it or will be HAPPY to see it available.
