so what's the diff?
I've only seen LA BELLE NOISEUSE, once, in the theatre. What's DIVERTIMENTO? Is it just a shorter version? Or is it markedly different (like OUT ONE compared to OUT ONE: SPECTRE)?
shareIt is basically the same movie, except it is cut from four hours to two. The cutting is the key. They didn't simply take the four hour version and cut stuff out. They went back to the beginning, with all the material that was shot, and re-edited a two hour movie. The pool of material was not the four hour movie, it was the original library of shots. So, instead of picking shots that were long, they picked shorter shots that weren't in the four hour version.
So, it is basically the same movie - in plot and structure - but not all the same *shots*. What this boils down to is new shots of the *GLORIOUS*, *EXQUISITE*, *MAGNIFIQUE* nude frame of Beart.

So, I take it, you have both versions of the film, and study them obsessively. :)
shareWell, I don't know about "obsessively", but I really like the films (and yes, Beart's body) and I've watched both a couple times. Actually I've only watched the four hour version a few times, and the two hour once.
She has one of the all-time most beautiful bodies ever, and her freedom with it in this film is simply intoxicating. Plus, the film itself is so incredible; it just electrifies despite it's leisurely pace. It is one of those films that appeals to many levels at the same time - prurient interests, yes, but also matters of the heart and mind equally. It is a gem of French cinema.
