Interesting to look at...

...but way longer than it needed to be.

The imagery and themes were captivating, puzzling, and disturbing, but it was stretched out over too long a time. This is meant to be a short, not a full-length film. Can you imagine how dull Un Chien Andalou would have been if there had been twenty minutes of aimless wandering in between the 'eye slicing' scene and the 'disembodied hand' scene?

Completely agree that it was too long. That's the only thing about the film that I don't like. If it was a 20 minute short, it would've been great

You're extremely right. The beginning scene is where it peaked for me. Watching that creepy figure disembowel himself was rather disturbing. But then it's about an hour of these faceless characters dragging around a man-fetus. I love avant-garde and experimental cinema, but I need something I could sink my teeth into. And the contrast is just too much, I could hardly tell what I was looking at half the time. And I know that was probably the intention, but if so, screw the director.
