Begotten-fans: WHERE DO YOU COME FROM AND HOW OLD ARE YOU?

Thought this thread would be very interesting for the worldwide Begotten Fan community. I myself also am very curious about the results.

The problem here is that the film is not very well known, but still, maybe we fans can get to know each other.

Please write down some information about you.

Where you are from (country / city if you want).
How old you are.
Your gender.

You can also add why you like the film or additional information you think others may find interesting.

So, here we go:

I'm from "Zwettl" (small town on the countryside, not very far away from Vienna), Austria,
21,
male

For me Begotten is the most avantgardistic, surreal and unique film ever made. A unique project that can't be compared with anything.

Greetings from Austria and have fun, fellas!

Begotten for me is a nightmare that has a much bigger meaning than the plot suggests. I see it as a experience to what essentially is hell. Unlike haewatein, I don't think it is the MOST avantgardistic, surreal and unique film ever. I would probably tie that #1 spot with Eraserhead.

BEGOTTEN was an interesting experiment. It was meditative to me while I just watched the images glide across the screen awaiting my interpretation. I liked the exploration of the awe-fullness of Creation, God, the Great Mother, and even the advancement and decline of seveal human tribes.

I don't think it does the film justice to tout it as DISTURBING, SO TRES AVANTE GARDE, SO AMBITIOUSLY OUT THERE. I appreciate the work that must have gone into achieving the film's look but, despite some violent imagery, I still found it quite a contemplative piece, more mesmerizing than shocking.

I'm in to weird movies, always have been. From Lynch to Brakhage I've seen it all. And am still looking for original films. Personally, I'm into anything that hasn't been done or seen before. And that isn't just limited to standard "movies". I've seen some very avant garde work in porn. Anyhow, here's list of some films that are weird, odd, avant garde and off the beaten path.

The Loss of Sexual Innocence
Bergman's Persona
Salo
Vendredi soir (2002)
Irreversible
The Piano Teacher
Ma Mere
Anatomy of Hell
Pootie Tang
Last year at Marienbad
Visitor Q
Twentynine Palms (2003)

Hard to describe... I always try to find movies that will shock me, or leave me thinking about it for a long long time afterwards, and I rarely succeed. I watched this movie in that effort.

I thought this movie was very fascinating to watch, even though I didn't understand a lot of it (to say it didn't make sense wouldn't be the right term, as I'm sure the director had a vision he himself understands the best).
