I'm sorry but Eraserhead is better

Time Magazine says "Makes Eraserhead look like Ernest Saves Christmas".
I'm sorry Time Magazine you just want to seem cool because your trying to act like you like a more artsy film than Eraserhead. I know a lot of people say that Eraserhead is boring but I literally fell asleep while watching this.

Yeah don't apologize for your opinion. Eraserhead is far more superior than this. I fell asleep too the first time during begotten.

Eraserhead is a well-produced film by a known director at the time with actual actors and a budget. This is an arthouse passion project that probably cost less than 5000 dollars to produce and stars the directors theater troupe friends.

You cannot compare the two. Just being avant-garde and in B&W does not put these films in the same genre or league.

Agreed. Although I think what they're really trying to say is that Eraserhead is more accessible.

I agree with that. It's more accessible merely by virtue of using spoken language to convey it's message.

David Lynch was not really that known at the time and was Lynch's first feature shot for around $20,000(about $74709.67 today), for he was mainly a painter and video artist. Other than Charlotte Stewart, Jeanne Bates, Allen Joseph, and Darwin Joston none of them had that many previous works beforehand or went on to do much more so not understanding "actual" actors, for Lynch got a lot of his friends and family to work on it too and it took years to make and was a passion project by all meanings of the word. Lynch's film looks better because he is a better director than E. Elias Merhige(not to say that he is bad).

It can be compared since both films are surrealistic, relies more on visual storytelling than dialogue , atmospheric, and highly symbolic with religious imagery.

This film wishes it were Eraserhead. Granted, it has some striking images on its own, like the famous one on the poster, but it's ultimately too derivative of other classic movies done in similar fashion--namely, Eraserhead or Bunuel movies. My problem, then, is not that it's derivative, but that it's not as good as the films it's aping.

I love them both. They're different enough so that I wouldn't even compare them, personally.
