Due for a remake! Or ripoff!

Seriously, why hasn't someone else made a spectacular CGI-heavy movie about firemen fighting fires? It's intrinsically dramatic, fire looks great on the screen, and it's easy to come up with some simple bull about relationships between firefighters to fill the time between fire scenes.

And any effects-loving director could do what Ron Howard did, stage several fires that are not just visually spectacular, but very different in look and tone.

This movie was all real and I wouldn’t watch a CGI remake.

reply

Oh gosh no.

A Backdraft remake would star Amy Adams or Alicia Vikander as the tough, single lady just trying to make it in a man's world. They join a fire department after being transferred due to some mishap they took the blame for even though it was a straight white male's fault, something that gets revealed in a flashback either to her lesbian love interest or a simpy soy-boy toy.

The entire premise will be laughable, and they'll likely have Ms. Main Character defeating the fire by directing the men what to do, and then going in to rescue the loudmouth, sexist white guy who gave her grief all throughout the rest of the film, while her male mentor and father-like figure dies an easily avoidable death just to give her motivation to show up the boys.

Just... no, thank you.

The same story but gender swapped would be horrendous.

reply

That's exactly how Hollywood would fuck it up. I'm sure they would stick a Leslie Jones or another nobody in it.

reply

DO WE HATE LESLIE JONES BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN OR COLORED?...I FORGET.🤔

reply

I actually thought she was the only believable character in Ghosbusters 2016. She's 6ft tall and built like a guy. She could probably do the job of a Ghostbuster which is based off of being an exterminator.

reply

It will probably happen.

reply

No, no remake. Remakes suck.
