Beautiful Preisner score

Zbigniew Preisner's music gives this movie its soul especially the haunting main theme with background thunders imitating the magnificent waterfalls of the Amazon Beginnings. It's as beautiful as Ennio Morricone's "The Mission" score.

If you listen to the tidbits of tracks 1,5,7,9 and 14 you'll get an idea what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure Gabriel Jared was inspired by this score when he composed his theme for "The English Patient".

It's been years since I saw the movie, but I remember the main theme being hauntingly beautiful.

I loved the flute in the main theme. It reminded me of George Zamphir in Ennio Morricone themes: "The Mission" and "Once upon a time in America'.

Hauntingly beautiful is exactly how I would describe it too.

One sure sign of a cheap, slapdash movie is when they have the actors doing stuff without a sound track, then they overdub some radio tune because well, we have talkies, now. I always appreciate a movie that has a fitting score. It's been about 5 years since I saw it the last time, but that theme music sticks in my head. So appropriate to the story.
