Niilo Kivirinta looked very beautiful, charming, and talented as Billy Quarrier in "At Play in the Fields of the Lord". It is truly unfortunate that he did not continue a career as a child actor in cinema.

I totally agree. I've just seen this film for the first time and he was wonderful in it. The scene where he becomes ill with blackwater fever and dies within hours is the most moving sequence I have ever seen. What a talented little actor.

this is my opinion, too. And it indeed would seem that he had only a one-time appearance, in this movie, and then turned away from acting. Or has anybody different information about him? (Somethimes - dare I say it - even imdb is not infallible, so...:-)

Not only was he good in this, but seemed to be the kid anybody would love to have for a son. It pissed me to no end the way Kathy Bates' crazy, fundamental Baptist fat ass kept yelling at the boy, slapping his hand, and spanking him
shareIt's supposed to make you angry. the father justifies all by faith, the mother however sees all and is helpless to stop the sickness. I don't justify her behaviour, but what would YOU do if you were coerced into living in the jungle, then watch your child die?
