Cat R. Waul + Tanya Break Down

I think Waul has a thing for Tanya :-p its one of thoses kind of to get an idea of love. Their pairing is like Sarah/Jareth (Labyrinth) Christian/Erik (Phantom of the opera) and Esmeralda/Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)I think hehe. :-p

To break down.
Tanya ways and being of the 3 girls.

Sarah-Young,but not wanting to live in the real world, and believes her life is some lovely fairy tale, and got it when she become the saloon's singer

Christian-Need I have to say it hehe? Her voice it bewitched Wual (as Chris. did with Erik)

Esmeralda-Her back around heritage, (as I think? don't get angry people its just how I see it)for Russia in that era had alot of Vagabonds, so called magic users and gypsies, and yet again she bewitch him with her witchy essy way.

Cat R. Break down.

Jareth- Hehe will both British and proper, great dressers hehe have good teast in music hehe. Hehe was was willing to offer her, her dreams if only she would fear him, and do as he said. I think.

Erik-Aloner, all fearing him even his own crew, and deep down a tad Crazy as Erik was.

Frollo- That it goes against all laws. For cat case mouse then eats mouse. And how it was wrong A Cat and mouse. (Like Frollo and Essy a High court official and common gypsi girl, aka Witch as he called her a demon) Along Tanya was just a commoner and him a rich pose, high racking Pussy cat

Now don't take this to heart people ok am just saying thank you no flames no. Your welcome to believe what you do but am just saying sorry if I created an up roar have a good night, even, day.

As far as the Erik/Christine comparison goes, I totally agree. Especially in the scene where Cat R. Waul hands Tanya over to Miss Kitty for preparation. As he leaves, he swishes his cape about him in a style similar to the Phantom of the Opera. And, of course, the obvious voice-bewitching... thing. It's totally there.

I'm joining this discussion pretty late here, but the movie is on tv right now and I'm watching it for the first time in probably 15 years, so as an adult I'm having a bit of a different take than when I was a kid.
I totally get the comparison to Phantom and to Jareth in the Cat R. Waul part, not really familiar w/ Hunchback so I'll take your word for it there. He is bewitched by her but wants to control her, he doesn't love her in the good sense of real love, but more like he's obsessed with her as an object.

I thought I was the only one that immediately thought of Phantom when I saw Cat R. Waul become smitten with Tanya and her voice! Glad I'm not alone!

I totally think he has a thing for her, much like how Erik was first drawn to Christine because of her singing voice and then ended up falling for Christine herself. I'm sure there's Waul/Tanya fan fics out there somewhere . . . would love to read them . . .

Nevermore!

Just watched the Tanya/Waul song part, lovely it was, and I thought people would pair it and I was right

Anyway it's a neat idea and I love that cats voice

That is so brilliant because I rewatched the movies and got the comparison ^^

Oh yeah, he had a thing for her, even when I was little and was usually oblivious to romance I thought he did! How old was Tanya supposed to be anyway?

I think it's more like he fell in love with her voice more so than with her. After all, they're almost as different as two species can be. Also, to answer your question, I think Tanya was in her early teens, 14 or 15 most likely, 16 max. Cat R. Waul was in his late 20s or early 30s, maybe even 40s.

Jarrett and Sarah were perfect. <3

I think the Tanya/Waul's relationship is very similar to the relationship between two characters in another Spielberg movie, in the upcoming Schindler's List. Maybe it is a Spielberg thing to make a complex villain, but in Schindler's list one of the biggest villains is a sadistic Nazi called Amon, who has an obsession over a Jewish maid called Helen.

Even though he is not supposed to be attracted to her because their "species" are not supposed to interact (like cats and mice) he finds himself fascinated by her elegance and beauty. He also in a fit of fury compares her to a mouse/rat, while he behaves very much like a cunning cat throughout the movie.

Just wondering if Spielberg reused the Waul/Tanya relationship in a different context in one of his later films, which would eventually win Academy Awards.
