HELP! Someone please tell me what happens please?

i have the unrated version which was extremely long and i did not have much time so i had to resort to fast forwarding a long stretch of scenes near the end of the movie (starting from where he meets the girl's family)..

will anyone please breifly tell me what happens please? im anxious to know and it seemed so sad, even while watching it quickly but i would like to know why it could not work out between them, and how they broke off and why she left to France? thanks alot

Bummer, you missed one of the best sequences in the film, when the Chinese tells the Child what he said to his father. That it would be horrible to take her body away from him. Chills!!

His father said that he would disinherit him if he didn't let her go.
