Any Info On This Film?

Love this movie very much, always have... but for some reason, I just can't seem to find ANYTHING out about the making of this movie, any reasons for it being made, interviews from directors/stars concerning it, or if it had a theatrical release or not (I'm almost sure that it did, given that the poster art work is completely different, and more movies in general had theatrical play around this time), whether there are alternate cuts, and I can't even manage to contact anyone involved either.

Can anyone help me out here????

In the United States, it came out straight-to-video and not long after that got a national debut on prime time TV on ABC.

Check out Fangoria #104. It has a whole spread on Alligator 2. Mostly an interview with the director. It's pretty interesting. I guess the film was just a TV-movie. Made for the ABC network. Back when they still made TV movies they made Alligator 2 based on their high-rating broadcasts of the first Alligator film a few years earlier. Alligator 2 debuted there then went to video. I guess there were alot of problems with the special effects and the directors original idea for the movie was rejected by ABC (there's more details on that in the article). Kane Hodder's scenes originally got cut from the script during shooting. Later Kane confronted the director so they went ahead and shot them and put them into the movie. The film was made for ABC-TV but the producer had plans on releasing it theatrically later on. That never happened, it just came out on video a few months later.

I've been meaning to get a copy of that for a while speciifcally for that article, but... have yet to get around to it.

I'm still under the belief that there had to have been some kind of American theatrical release for the movie, although it had to be extremely limited. You can find the posters for it all the time on eBay, and New Line's trade ad refers to it as a "1991 theatrical release."

The problem is that there really... isn't a whole lot of information available about the movie, nobody involved with it has really spoken of it since the movie was released, and there don't look to be too many signs of a special edition DVD to clear up any questions.
