Horrible transfer in many ways

I've seen The Chess Players and Pather Panchali. Both were phenomenal. The concept and reviews on here about this movie made it seem like something I'd be very into. Most of what I was able to pick up was very interesting ---

That all being said, 1. The image quality of this DVD was horrible and 2. The subtitling was delayed, absent, botched, and overdubbed to the point of distraction. The only thing that could have made it more annoying is it being a snowstorm with all white subtitles.

When Criterion or someone takes up the task of giving this film the treatment it deserves, someone please let me know!
