So Was He Fester Or Not ?

Probably an effect of a bad script or writing but I'm still never got confirmation if there is one, was he actually uncle fester and if so how ? But of a voice spence that he's been considered dead so how did he come back from the afterlife and why did he have a mother if he was real and the fact he's been wondering all over the world even been to the triangle and the one women who owes that lawyer of that family found fester ?

Not at all.

The movie makes it explicitly clear that he was the real Fester Adams.

Can't stop the signal.

Eh, it's still bad writing. The trivia section here on IMDb says it was a last minute decision to clarify whether or not he really was Fester. It was clearly rushed into the script late into filming and it shows. Explaining plot details without blantantly reeling it off to the audience takes a little skill, but none was used here, they just come right out and say it.

No, its not bad writing-it's bad "watching". . Pinderschloss says clearly she found him and tricked him.

lol I'm going to use. I love it. lol

He got amnesia years ago and forgot he was Uncle Fester but after hit with the lightning, he remembered. Again, bad writing out of the question. Perfect Movie right here.

How ?

How ?

Through dialogue. Did you go get a refill during that scene?

When Gomez says: so pinder schloss really did find fester tangled in a tuna net 25 years ago - with Amnesia! Or when Morticia says Fester Addams home at long last and he says well at least for a week, got a lot of things cooking in the Bermuda triangle. That's where he'd been all the time, they're making a joke that he's survived the triangle cuz they're a weird family and survive things most wouldn't. "An Infant would understand!" :p

Wondering the same myself. The 'mom' did have that one line at the end of should've left you where I found you but it definitely wasn't clear.

^Yes, she "Found" him, so he is not her real son. Also, during the hurricane when he closes the book a bolt of lightning strikes his head. That jogs his memory. He is the real Fester Addams.

I just re-watched it and there are a lot of clues from the beginning that he's the real Fester. The first time he remained alone in his room, he looked at the old photos and knew exactly how to lie down on that weird bed. I think the turning moment was when he and Gomez danced Mamushka that he really became Fester again. So, yeah, I agree with the others, the script is very straightforward if you're watching carefully :).

There was confirmation, at the end. However, during the course of the movie, there were clues: how he reacted to certain situations, and when Pinderschloss came knocking while they were at the the play, she said "I never should have used him!", the Mamushka, which only they knew, and in the climax, when his "mother" said "I should have left you where I found you!", then he gets struck by lightning, and gets his full memory back. Gomez even clarified it by saying he was in that tuna net, with amnesia.

It's not that subtle, it was clear he was the real Fester the moment he started adapting to life with the Addams"

reply

I thought the fact that he really began to meld with the rest of the family was indication he really was Fester.

I understand the producers may have only decided late in the process that he really was going to be Fester, but it apparently didn't take much tweaking.

you mean you just didn't watch the film properly

reply

So do people even bother watching movies properly any more or just skip through and ask others to fill in gaps for them? They clearly clarify he is Fester as well as hint at it earlier.

You know... sometimes I think people just do it because of loneliness, lack of conversation, need to connect etc. And I let it slide!!
