I think what was bad is that it did not have its own identity. Joe was too much like Ed - and there was only one Ed who played Al Bundy to the hilt.
This would have worked if Joe was more like the Steve character and his son was more like the Marcy character of the 90's - or visa versa.
It seemed like they were trying to "replace" Ed O'Neil and his family...too much too soon.
Awards and ribbons are no comfort on your deathbed.

I've only seen the 'pilot' (Married with Children...S05EP20) and thought it was totally boring and not funny at all. So I can't really comment about 'Please erase all tapes of this show'
Hopefully the rest of the episodes will show up on TV soon then I will be able form a proper opinion.
