meaning of the end?

I just finished watching this mini series on Chiller tv. I'm a little confused by the ending.
when Harlan and his wife disappear in the green glow, does that mean they went back in time? It seemed that way because of what the Felicity Huffman aka Sculley character said about a second chance and the scene when the mad scientist watched the clock's time go backwards and then disappear.
Just wondering.

That's about the only thing that makes any sense. The ending does show pictures of Harlan in his Army uniform and a young Gina. They constantly talk about when they first met etc. So, it would make sense that they would go back in time. However, how old will Gina be?

There was no real ending. I watched the show during the first run, the last episode that was shown had his wife die and he was still on the run. Later when I saw a video of it on the shelf at Blockbuster... I thought, yay, finally, closure... but it was the crap ending described in your OP.

I saw the series the summer it aired, and really enjoyed it. When they left off with the wife dead and Harlan captured I thought, what will happen now? Then they cancelled the series, so we were left hanging. When the video came out, they tacked on an ending so it wouldn't end in a cliffhanger, but something of a happy ending. However, I thought it was rather cheesy. Harlan was not meant to travel back in time, just age backwards. So they sped up the process to give the series some closure. Why his wife disappeared too remains a mystery.

There was another thread where someone mentioned one of the themes of this show, in that two people were growing apart despite their love for one another, with the husband growing younger as the wife ages normally. They probably tacked on the "cheesy" ending that they did to show them both "going on" together, wherever or whenever that may be.
