As a Three's Company fan...

...would I like this show? Given Suzanne Somers is in it, I might like it to a degree, but I'm not 100%.

I also like Soap, Laverne & Shirley, All In the Family/spinoffs, Cheers, ALF, and the Odd Couple to name a few.

in one episode she is watching three's company and as she laughs at it, she says something to the effect 'Oh, that crissy' and does her classic goofy crissy face!

reply

Well that's why I started watching it. In the first season or two she does a lot of comedy. She was still pretty funny as the show went on but not featured as much. If you like the Chrissy from the first two seasons of Three's Company then you will at least like her in this.

As a "Three's Company" fan I did watch this on occasion. I think Suzanne Somers looked her best on this show. But I liked the farce humor of "Three's Company" better. She was prettier on "Step By Step" though. I cannot figure out why she was given her own show after she pulled that nonsense with the '81 contract dispute on "Three's Company."

reply

Yes, I think you would like this show if you are a Suzanne Somers fan! She looked the best ever and her acting was fantastic! Can someone help me on what episode Carol was watching Three's Company? I can't find it.

reply

I remember an episode where Chrissy Snow from Three's Company watching herself on Three's Company and laughing at herself on Three's Company but I don't remember which one it was.

reply

I think she is better on this. She probably had acting lessons and/or life experiences---which prepped her for this 'role'

On threes she was a giggly blonde, which in all fairness does not require much intellect. This role was somebody 'starting over in life' The theme song mentioned a fresh start and taking things step by step.

She probably convinced somebody she had learned her lesson. And Duffy/Mitchell who had both been on Dallas--bigger show were on it. so her star would be smaller anyways. Dallas ran from 1978 to 1991....pretty good run for series. Duffy was with Dallas for the ENTIRE series!! He was the top dog here.

reply

Nono, he was not in the dream season of Dallas!

I was a huge step by step fan...but I grew up in the 90s and I feel like step by step would more likely be compared to family matters. Or an updated version of the Brady Bunch..kind of like a blend of those 2 shows. While i never watched 3's company religiously...the times I caught it on TV, I enjoyed it.

I’m still a Step by Step fan. I agree with all of you that Suzanne’s role as Carol Lambert was a big 180 from Chrissy Snow.

reply

she looks better in this series...healthier and better makeup job....even if she was supposed to have also given birth to several kids. On threes company she looked stonned several times.

reply

I should think so. This is a pretty fun, at times goofy sitcom, and SS gets a lot of screentime.

There are numerous references to some of the actors' previous roles on the show.

1. DALLAS is an answer on a crossword puzzle that Frank (Patrick Duffy) is working on.
2. The same episode has Carol (Suzanne Somers) working out with a Thighmaster
3. The same episode ends with an elderly (and somewhat senile) Frank asking "Where's J.R.?"
4. One episode has Jean-Luc (Bronson Pinchot) telling Carol that she looks like Crissy from "Three's Company"
5. There is an episode where J.T. references "Baywatch" which is where Brandon Call got his start.

When Jean-Luc told Carol that she looked like Chrissy from Three's Company, I would have told him, that's because she is Chrissy from Three's Company.
